Food Fight
Food Fight is SpongeBob's neutral special.
Overview[edit | edit source]
SpongeBob flings a Krabby Patty. The user can input left or right to angle the Krabby Patty's flight. Hitting the opponent deals 8% damage and no knockback. However, if a Krabby Patty hits the floor, it creates a stain mark that causes opponents to trip when stepped on, allowing for a grab or smash attack. Only one stain mark can be on the floor, and making another one would remove the previous stain mark. This move overall has moderate endlag, and the Krabby Patty can travel across half a stage.
On rare occasions, SpongeBob would throw a pie instead. The pie can be angled as well but travels a shorter distance than the Krabby Patty. If the pie hits the opponent, it explodes and deals heavy knockback, capable of KOing starting at around 40%.
Origin[edit | edit source]
SpongeBob's job throughout the series is the Krusty Krab's frycook, producing Krabby Patties. The name Food Fight also makes a reference to SpongeBob's childish nature.
The exploding pie is a reference to the Season 2 episode "Dying for Pie." In the episode, Squidward buys a pie from a group of pirates that, turns out, is actually a bomb. At the end of the episode, SpongeBob accidentally throws the pie onto Squidward's face, destroying Bikini Bottoms.
